Middle Ages

I would like to frist off start with a thank you to the members of the MSR for putting together such a great event, as well I would like to thank James Peck who plaied Sir Richard Blackmoore for the help nameing people and the combat armour that they have on since I lack the understanding of the such.

Where I live, my town has a nice line of things to do over the year which range from events on the water to seeing people riding houses trying to bash the other rider off there house with wooded rods. As a child we knew that summer was really over when this took place, it did not matter that we where in school but the jousting made the summer's end real.

To bring the summer to an end we have the chance to see the local members of the Medieval Scenarios and Recreations inc. (from the "kingdom" of Acre ) run a Middle Ages fair. The Medieval Scenarios and Recreations inc. is a non for profit group who historical recreate the "High Middle Ages" from 1000-1500 with in Western Europe. The members use priories dress, tools, food, and any other aspect they can as regular focks can. They all are non pros, they call them-selves armatures yet the work they all put into this is just a great as paid people if not more so. Many of the outs where hand made by people with in the MSR and in some case even some of the weapons where made by members as well.

Here we have 2 of the male swords man showing off some of there skills and the sword with a friendly duel or if you will fencing. After some warming up and play fighting the 2 swords men real go at it just a little faster.

Here we see a male and a female fencer dueling it out giving people a chance to see how lightly armored persons are able to fight.

There was point where people where able to see how the more well known figure of the plate or even the scale armored people clash with each other and stopped to give people looking a chance to try there hand and fighting one of them (just with padded swords for every-one). Here we have a little girl who is about to slay the much bigger knight.

One of the other fun events to see was a demonstrating on Middle Ages jousting. Here we have a knight in training show us how they would practice jousting by hitting the target shield. The object was to hit the shield true and keep on riding with out getting hit in the back with the bag, if you're able to do that in one smooth shot then you know that you're able to make your mark.

Latter on "Sir Geoffrey the Younger" (Jeffrey Wasson) takes the field to show the people how knights where able to work on there aiming on jousting with the use of target rings.

After the people where able to see how the knights where able to working on the jousting skills came the fun part, the breaking of wood onto each other. Showing off there skills and jousting each other are "Sir Richard Blackmoore" in red and "Sir Geoffrey the Younger" in brown wearing a bascinet and earlier 15th century grayer armour.

One of the few things that people ever knew about jousting was that when a house was unable to be found the knights had to grab a Huffy and use that to defend the land. Here we had "Sir Richard Blackmoore" (James Peck) and another knight show off the aged lost manner of combat. Here we see Sir Richard Blackmoore in his polished German Gothic armour & red accessories that took him about 10 to 20 years to custom make, very nice.

Here we have Sir Geoffrey the Younger showing his custom built earlier 15th century grayer armour which he built him self. As well Sir Geoffrey the Younger also built parts for Sir Richard Blackmoore namely The breast, back and tassets made of hardend tempered steel

Added too his skills Sir Geoffry the Younger also built the armour for Sir Gynneth (Stacy Wasson) who is where the black armour.

Some of the ideas that were hand made range for this German fire-arm that was used by German troops on the battle field, to suits of armor and dress out fits that where used during the day.

When every thing was said and done you where able to walk away with an amazement over the hard work and effort that these people put into there reenactments be it the people who build there out fits to the people that help set every thing up so that you can have a chance to learn something that you did not already know.
